Rare Green SalamanderWildlife abounds at Raven Ridge. Naturalists young and old will catch sight of green frogs, newts, and other amphibians in spring-fed streams and seepages, while wood frogs and red efts (the land form of the red-spotted newt) tend to remain in moist, woody areas. Turning over a few logs in search of northern slimy or mountain dusky salamanders can be a pleasant diversion, producing unexpected finds. You may be fortunate enough to see a black bear, red fox, white-tailed deer, eastern chipmunk, or bobcat.
